Tõnu Lensment, Director of the Russian Theatre, explained that this year’s season began earlier than usual. “We made so many plans that a later start to the season wouldn’t have allowed us to stage everything we want to,” he said, thanking the supporters of the theatre for their input.
Jolan Ševtsov was Go Rail’s representative at the press conference and he noted that the company has always supported culture. “Over the years Go Rail has dedicated itself to supporting culture and promoting friendly relations between Estonia and Russia,” he explained. “We’ve contributed to the success of many cultural events, big and small alike, helping with transportation of theatre troupes and performers from St. Petersburg and Moscow. We’re glad to be able to facilitate this fantastic new season of theatre.”
The Russian Theatre launched its 66th season with a new play entitled The Tower of Babel, staged by the theatre’s Artistic Director, Marat Gatsalov.
